religiousdog1The nondenominational City Community Church in Austin, Texas is conducting Sunday services in a bar and allowing dogs to attend with their owners.

The services, according to the the Austin American-Statesman, are held on Sunday mornings at La Zona Rosa, a club that features music, and calls itself “Austin’s most eclectic venue.”

Church members say meeting at the club and allowing dogs make people feel comfortable. Organizers say it takes an hour and a half to clean up the beer bottles and set up baby gates that keep the dogs from leaving the service.

Rev. Matthias Haeusel says most dogs are well-behaved, although a big dog may occasionally see a small one as a chew toy. No word on whether the pups tithe.
