Pawfun’s Animal Communicator: How to Negotiate with Your Dog
By Janet Roper
A friend’s young female German Shepherd, loves to jump up on people as they enter the house. When she first started doing this as a 20-pound puppy, everyone thought it was cute. Not so cute now that she weighs 80 pounds!
I tuned into Bubbles, who is very appropriately named, and asked her why she continues to jump on people, even though her family kept telling her ‘no’.
She told me it’s because she’s SO HAPPY to see people! She saw her family hugging the people who came to the house and she decided to ‘hug’ the people too.
I told Bubbles her family would like her to stop that behavior; it was alarming the visitors and the family was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with it.
Bubbles became downcast and said she didn’t know any other way to hug the people. She was especially sad to think she would be no longer be able to hug her family.
Sometimes the job of animal communicator can best be described as negotiator.
I relayed to my friend what Bubbles had said, and suggested an alternate way for Bubbles to hug be found.
My friend considered for a while, then requested I ask Bubbles if she would be willing to sit still and allow the friends and family to hug her as she was quietly sitting.
Bubbles was ecstatic to hear that suggestion. She called it a grand idea and was particularly pleased that people would be hugging her!
Since our conversation my friend has told me that Bubbles now sits patiently, wagging her tail and smiling at the people, waiting for her hug.
Animal Communication Practice Tip: When your pet displays an undesirable (non-threatening) behavior, begin negotiations about an alternative behavior. Trust the images, feelings or words you receive. This allows you and your pet to create a WIN/WIN, mutually beneficial solution for all!

I dont really belive in negociating with my dog, I believe I am the pack leader and I lead with a calm and assertive energy. However, I always knew that your emotions were a factor, but thanks for re-enforcing that. Great stuff!
