Brushing your dog’s teeth DAILY is as important as brushing your own. It makes a world of difference when you brush your dog’s teeth regularly, says Neil Rosenblum, owner of Pet Stop New York. In fact, he says, the American Animal Hospital Association says that brushing your dog’s teeth could add as much as five years to his life.

IMPORTANT: Do not use a human toothbrush or human toothpaste on your dog’s teeth. Doggie toothpaste comes in flavors like chicken and beef, and doesn’t contain flouride, which can harm your dog.

Neil says “We’ve tested a lot of different dental care products and I recommend the Kissable Toothbrush from the Cain & Able dental collection. This really is a great brush – especially for those of you who are new to this whole “doggy tooth brushing” thing.”

BennyBix Ochman Labradoodle loves his chicken flavored toothpaste and tolerates me brushing his teeth because he likes the taste. Go figure. But he’s 5 and his teeth are white and tarter-free as a puppy’s.
