Benny’s vet, Dr Jill Elliot, sent us this bulletin today:
The EU is now requiring all pets to have a rabies vaccination that has been given after (or on the same day) their microchip has been implanted.

Until now, most EU countries did not have an issue with the chronological order in which rabies vaccinations and microchips were administered.

Fortunately, most cats and dogs that travel will already be compliant with these new requirements. However, if a pet does not have a rabies vaccination that was given on the same day as, or after their microchip was implanted, we will need to administer a new rabies vaccination so they will meet this new criteria.

All EU countries are subject to this rule including top frequented countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Greece, to name a few. If you plan on traveling to the EU with your pet, please feel free to contact our office so that we can make sure your pet meets these new requirements.
