UPDATE: 4 Paws for Ability has announced that Alyssa has reached her fund-raising goal and will soon be matched with a service dog. Allison Henry: you’re an angel!

My dear friend Judy Vorfeld is webmaster for 4 Paws for Ability, a wonderful organization that helps people with disabilities get service dogs. Here’s a letter from a 8 year-old Allison Henry who asked friends to donate money – to help another little girl, named Alyssa Howes get a service dog. That’s what Allison wanted for her birthday instead of presents. She and her friends raised $155.

You can donate here if this letter moves you, even just a little.

GREAT NEWS! Today 4 Paws for Ability announced that Alyssa had reached her fundraising goal! The next step: 4 Paws chooses a dog to be trained, works with videos sent in by Alyssa’s family, and begins highly specific training to meet her needs! Isn’t Allison Henry something?
