15-pound white cat Eddie gained a new life when his Upper West Side owner rescued him from the ASPCA.

He soon adapted to his cushy new life, and was lounging about on his new terrace the other day when a red-tailed hawk mistook him for dinner.

The 4-pound hawk swooped down, pick up the hapless kitty and flew off, presumably intending to kill and eat it. But Eddie was too heavy for the hawk to carry and he was dropped at least 5 stories about 50 feet from his terrace, into a neighbor’s backyard.

Eddie’s heartbroken owner told the NY Daily News she walked for hours, putting up signs and looking for his body.

A neighbor, shocked to see the cat falling from the sky, recognized him from flyers on the street and called Eddie’s owner.Aside from some scratches and bruises, and the loss of another life or two, Eddie’s fine. No word on the hawk.
